Coverage checker states that I should be getting excellent data and I am unable to even open a single app. Very poor.

ID use the 3UK network. I’ve checked the status checker and a speed warning is coming up. So it looks like that’ll be there for a while. 

 

Don’t know if ID will give you any compensation for the network issue

How would I go about claiming compensation please as my phone's is virtually useless to me all day?

@LoneWolf - You’d have to go through our Complaints procedure, however doing so does not guarantee compensation. As an MVNO we have no input on the infrastructure as this is provided by our partner 3UK.
