Question

Poor Signal

Bethy11

The signal has been bad since I got my phone especially in my home (L16) but never goes above 1 bar in Liverpool. I can make calls but no one can ever hear me as the signal is so poor. Im 100% relying on my WiFi.

I've had a new sim with the same issue and my partner who is on the same network is having the same problem.

I've complained to customer service a few times and nothing ever gets done - they say they'll investigate but then never follow up. I'm paying for a service that I'm not getting.

@Bethy11  How long have you had this sim with IDMobile and has this problem recently happened, ie was your service fine with IDMobile in the past?

What a lot of people fail to do is get a pay as you go Sim card  for the network or networks of choice and these networks in the areas where you intend to mainly use your mobile phone. Shop's sales staff or online coverage checkers are not accurate it's mainly an average reading/display results for coverage in a known inputted postal area.

I could say have you checked on the net status checker if any ongoing working is going on? Even this may not be updated so best to check a day or so later if it doesn't show and problems /working ongoing.

Enter full post code in these checker for area having issues.

Hi @Bethy11,

Welcome to the Community!

As @JoeKing advised, please check your postcode at the link.

Please ensure to check the coverage and the network status as it will provide any updates regarding issues in the area.

Please let us know how you get on.

Kash

Coverage for 4g should be good indoor and outdoor and 5g is outdoor only but on 4g indoors I get 0 bars. Outdoors I get 2 bars max on both. Had so many important phone appointments cancelled because no one can hear me

@JoeKing its been going on for way over a year. I've had my sim replaced. There are no issues in my area. I've spoken to customer service a few times they ask me some questions, say they will log the complaint and get back to me and then that's the last I hear from them.

@Bethy11 For that period of time that's not good we're you receiving could coverage and signal before the issues?

All the networks are turning off their 3G services and have been within the last year and still ongoing. This could be the reason your services is very poor as you may of been also getting services via the 3G mast before.

I'll forward this issue to IDMobile staff for you, they'll contact you at some point, this seem like it needs to be investigated.

Hi @Bethy11

I’m not seeing anything to suggest you wouldn’t get a good 4G signal here, 5G would be weak so it’ll be worth switching to prefer 4G/LTE over 5G in your device settings.

You’ve had issues since joining, correct? All iD Mobile plans have a cooling off period in which the plan can be cancelled should coverage be unsuitable, was this option considered?

@Tom ill do that although right now it's just set to automatic. It was considered but the live chat support was so bad, the best anyone could offer was £10 off my next bill which obviously didn't help anything. I had people tell me they would take the complaints further, only for no one to get back to me. I've been speaking to customer support for so long and there has been no resolution

Formally complain to iD mobile by registered letter.

They claim to answer with in 7 day (allowing for the post)

If no good you should keep complaining, after 8 weeks from the date of your formal complaint you can push it up on to CISAS and the communication Ombudsman.

My formal complaint is in the post tomorrow morning as I'm getting extremely poor service too. Paying for something I'm not getting.
