Question

Telephone Calls, on both Wi-Fi and Mobile signal, have a three second delay. How do I fix this?

Hey,

What options do I have to get this issue fixed?

I can’t try another phone as the Help Hub suggests as I don’t have another compatible phone.
(Though, this phone has been working perfectly on another network for months.)

Thanks for any help,

Andy

Hi @Three Second Delay

Thank you for getting in touch with us. I am so sorry that the issue is not resolved.

You can also check the coverage in your area using the following link:
https://www.idmobile.co.uk/help-and-advice/coverage

Additionally, you may want to try the following steps:

For iPhone (iOS) – Reset Network Settings:
Go to Settings → General.
Tap Transfer or Reset iPhone → Reset → Reset Network Settings.
Confirm the reset when prompted.
Once complete, return to the home screen and restart your iPhone.

For Samsung – Reset Network Settings:
From the Home screen, swipe up to access Apps → Settings → Connections → Mobile Networks → Network Operators.
Turn Select Automatically on or off.
Alternatively:
Go to Settings → General Management → Reset → Reset Network Settings.
Confirm by tapping Reset Settings.

Thank you,

Hi ID,

Did my previous message get deleted for some reason?

Thanks,

Please be aware, if you ‘Reset Network Settings’ on an iPhone, it will also delete all previously used WiFi network settings.

Hi @Three Second Delay

Thank you for getting in touch with us.

Please note that to reset network settings on your iPhone, it will remove all previously saved WiFi networks and passwords from your device.

This means you’ll need to reconnect to WiFi networks manually afterward by entering the passwords again.

Thank you,

Could this issue be due to the new C1 modem chip inside my iPhone 16e?

I was thinking, maybe I could rule out the SIM causing the issue by upgrading to an eSIM instead?

I may give that a try.

Thanks.

I have an iPhone 17 Pro and haven’t experienced any issues. It might be your WiFi router. Have you tried connecting to a different network to see if the problem persists? There are plenty of free hotspots available.

Hi WelshPaul,

It’s good to hear your iPhone 17 Pro is working well for you.
I guess it could be down to the industry-standard Qualcomm X80 modem that’s in it. (Not the first generation Apple C1 modem, which could possibly be my issue.)

By the way, thanks for the great idea of using a public hotspot. It hadn’t even crossed my mind. Doh!

If you want me, I’ll be hanging around outside McDonalds. 😁

Thanks again,

Three Second Delay

Hi @Three Second Delay

Are you still experiencing the same issues?

Hi Michael Z,

I’m not confident that whatever was going on has been fixed.

Recently I completely lost my mobile signal (twice), so I do wonder if some work is being carried out on the local mobile towers.

It still doesn’t explain why WiFi calling was also having issues. Though, I did manage to successfully have a WiFi call last week.
