Terrible 4G and 5G mobile coverage

I signed to an ID mobile contract a few months back to reduce costs after many years with EE and find the ID Mobile coverage is so terribly bad, I am not getting the service I signed up and paid for. I can not use anywhere near the tens of GB of data I signed up for since my phone is permanently next to useless now unless I am on Wifi. When I was with EE the coverage in the same phone was always excellent. ID Mobile, this is not good enough. I’d like to cancel my contract since you are not delivering a useable level of service.

ID Mobile are absolutely dire. I have no 5g coverage and now the 4g has become completely hopeless

I have one bar of signal in my own home. It's an absolute joke. My phone isn't even displaying a 4g or 5g sign. I only started my contract a couple months ago. Seemed to be fine but now it's really not

Yes it's terrible. Every time I make a phonecall nobody is able to hear me properly and I get virtually no internet coverage anywhere. Indoors is hopeless. Desperate to leave but I stupidly got my phone on a 2 year contract and still have a year left.

Me too, this is the Mastdata map of 3 coverage in my area (red=nonexistant).  I think I’m off back to GiffGaff.

What a pity giffgaff don’t provide a WiFi Calling service yet, @bertiebe.

Good point, thanks. I'm getting a new phone so I'll stick with id for the moment.

Hi @bertiebe,

Welcome to the Community!

Is the issue occurring all the time? Does coverage improve outdoors?

Are you having issues with all services?

Please let us know and we can assist you further.

It’s pretty much exactly as the map above shows; no signal inside or outside my house. I have to go one street away to start getting a signal.

Llandudno is notorious. No phone company has a good signal here although they all deny it.

This map shows the best signal variability between suppliers meaning individual streets are provider dependent.

Hi @bertiebe

So you are aware that all networks have issues in your area?

How long have you had issues here?

None of them are brilliant. Everyone complains. Used to be with O2 and could get 1 bar if I was lucky. OTPs from banks a nightmare. Luckily I have new phone and can now use WiFi calling.

We're so bad the MPs (MSs) are getting involved. In Welsh and English, I'm afraid.

Taxi drivers are complaining people can't pay because the signal's so bad.

There's plenty of evidence.

Hi @Pbe21,

It sounds like a issue in that area in regards to  masts etc.

We are always working to improve coverage and provide coverage to more locations.

I am having the exact same issue: the coverage is so bad on 4G and 5G I cannot use the phone outside.

The issue is not with my phone nor my area: your coverage check states I have great 5G reception in my area as per pictures attached, but it is not true.

I had no problem with 5G on Lebara. I want to be able to stop my contract without exit fees since your service is unusable  and go back to Lebara, at least I know it is reliable.

It is impossible to get through to anyone via chat, phone or any other means.

Issue is everywhere. I live in central London and the signal is appalling. ID coverage is laughable

Totally agree and all I get from them is a new SIM card or that the network is "overloaded".

It is a joke: I purposely bought a 5G phone to be in line with the times and ID bring me back to the middle ages.

Hi @Lauraguk

The coverage map is not a 100% accurate representation of the signal, it’s based on approximations, in the event you find the signal isn’t right for you, all iD Mobile plans have a cooling off period in which to return your plan for this reason.

If you still need assistance with this, please let us know.

Hi @DC100

I’m sorry to hear this, please could you let us know the postcode(s) where you’re having issues?

Nw109aj and E1W 1JP are the most ones I use.

Thanks

Hi @Lauraguk

Taking a look the area of NW10 9AJ would be quite a weak one for 5G, it may be best to switch to 4G while here. It’s also worth noting Three UK are reporting an outage in the area which could be affecting service.

The area of E1W 1JP is similar generally, 5G could be patchy in this area so 4G may work best, however due to congestion, issues could be found generally.

Sounds like it is pointless in having 5G in London, UK Capital City

Hi @Lauraguk

I’m sorry you feel that way, signal is always evolving and improving, hopefully you’ll see improvements soon.

Both me & my husband are finding the EXACT same issues in our area too! Missing calls, can't call others or they can't get through to us, pretty much ZERO mobile data coverage, so can't even use WiFi calling using apps! I'm disabled & need to call people urgently at times! So having these issues is highly dangerous to me! Checked coverage - says no issues/outages in our area!xx

Same here, I'm in Newcastle, says on ID site is full signal in and out of home, in the last few weeks all I get is emergency calls in my flat and there are no issues reported in my area and it works fine outside
