unable to make a phone call when my home wifi is on.

Why can't I make a phone call when my phone is connected to my home WiFi?

If I want to use my id SIM card to make a call then I have to turn offy WiFi on my phone first.

Hi @Steve Lake

Sorry to hear this, have you tried turning Wi-Fi calling off on your device?

Tom

Hi there @Steve Lake

This sounds either like a phone/account/SIM blip or a router issue in my opinion.

The only difference between normal calls and Wi-Fi calls is how the call is routed. With normal calls the call goes via the phone mast, with WiFi it goes via your home router.

I’d be inclined to think:

  1. it’s a faulty SIM. You could pop down to Currys and get one FOC - plus it would be quicker if it turns out the SIM was faulty.
  2. it might be an account setting issue as they have to set up this functionality at their end.
  3. that if number 1 doesn’t sort it, try power cycling (posh for switching it off and on) the router before considering number 2.

@Stephen Hansell Hi there

What phone are you using?

Also pop your postcode into this, does it state there’s a known issue?

https://www.three.co.uk/content/experience-fragments/threedigital/uk/en/site/mvno/network-status-checker/idmobile.html

If there’s no known issues, whilst you’re at it, pop it into here too - it’ll default to 4G, just toggle to 3G and 5G

https://www.three.co.uk/content/experience-fragments/threedigital/uk/en/site/mvno/coverage-checker/idmobile.html

If 3G has been turned off then have you read through this:

Hope this all helps?

As your phone is showing emergency calls only I would suggest popping into Currys and asking for a replacement SIM @Stephen Hansell. You can then activate this replacement SIM via the app or online portal.

Or before doing anything else would it be possible to try the SIM in another phone? This would highlight whether the phone or SIM is faulty too.

Was the phone was purchased from iD Mobile?

If it was and is less than 12 months old Currys should also be able to check the phone. If they find the phone is faulty they should be able to put a warranty claim through for you.
