Yes I've done a number of network resets on the advice of the various live chats I've had. I'm awaiting another update from them today so I'll report back with any development.

Please do. This is certainly a weird one, that’s for sure.

Hi @AndyC1515,

It may be worth checking with our Live Chat Team to see if our Technical Team can assist further.

Kash, your live chat team are one of the worst I’ve experienced, ever. It takes an age for them to reply and the other day they kept sending me troubleshooting steps for an iphone. The team on X are at least replying, and keeping me updated.

Strange indeed, especially given your Android phone has a 4G Calling (VoLTE) settings option, @Daz_S

Perhaps the iD network profile for Pixel phones needs updating to reflect iD Mobile are using just 4G and 5G network services - no 2G, no 3G.

That’s also been my experience of the iD Live Chat service, @AndyC1515

I’ve given up with Live Chat, and although not as ‘instant’ using X worked for me too.

Yep, that’s what’s confusing me. I don’t recall (as we didn’t need VoLTE pre 3G switch-off) seeing this option but it may have always been there.

And yes you could well be right in reference to the profile, but some users with a Pixel on here have it working on iD. I wonder if some Pixel phones are either network locked or region locked (ie not UK spec) - IDK

All I know is since the 3G has started to be retired my phone has the VoLTE setting, plus as you know some unlocked to all UK networks phones also don’t allow the VoLTE functionality due to the previous providers software inhibiting this option. I have no clue if Google have this on the Pixel phones as I’ve only seen this on Samsung phones.

Do Google allow Pixel devices to branded by mobile networks, @Daz_S

It does seem doubtful iD Mobile have the willpower to go that extra mile whenever a more complex issue arises with a customer’s account / network service/s.

So the latest update is the following request, which I have done.

Hi there, thank you for your patience.

Please provide failure examples from last 24-48 hours of submitting back to us in the below format:

1.

Calling Number:

Receiving Number:

Date and Time:

Postcode

Connected to 3G / 4G

Error.

2.

Calling Number:

Receiving Number:

Date and Time:

Postcode

Connected to 3G / 4G

Error.

- Anika

The best thing about this though, is I've been advised to wait AT LEAST 72 hours before another update.

IDK Ande.

From the digging I did last night (and I spent a good few hours deep in the bowels of the www) some were alluding to a possibility that some Google phones may contain providers content on them (not just bloatware).

Some also said some are region locked.

And some said they were carrier locked (though most appear to be from over in the States).

I did even find some posts in these very forums archives and some were an interesting read (one discussing 2G and I spotted early iD phones were indeed loaded with iD specific software🤐)

The only reason for spending time on this is partly due to my background in engineering, more so fault finding. And although it doesn’t always help the OP, at least I get further knowledge in things I’m not so sure on, casing point Pixel phones.

And yes you’re right about going that extra mile. I do pay attention and for the most part they either take it to PM and we never know the outcome as most never come back or simply they say it can’t be our fault so do one. Oh well, the wonders of certain MVNOs…..

They've come back to me asking for some info regarding the fault. I have copied the message but it's gone to moderators. The best part is I can expect the next update in at least 72 hours.

I get the gone for review or something went wrong quite a bit🙄 and I’ve had enough of it now.

Another 72 hours! Crikey, as long as they honour the timeframe for cooling off then in the event they can’t find the cause and a solution.

Hi @AndyC1515

If you’re already in contact with our team on Facebook/Twitter, we’d recommend continuing there.

Just a quick update - we have FINALLY got a working phone, a full 26 days after taking delivery of the new handset. As we suspected all along it was a problem with the port. I must have called the complaints team 10 times in the last 2 weeks and each time I got a different pile of nonesense about the issue. They didn’t call me once in that time so all in all a really bad experience. They were good enough to give me a a £27 credit on the account though for the 4 weeks I had no working phone. I certainly won’t be with ID after this contract, or recommending them to anybody!

Not one to stir the pot. But after 7 days of no service and if iD are at fault you can leave penalty free.
