unable to receive or make calls

So far 3 days were I am unable to make or receive calls, both husband and granddaughter who are on same network have no problems.

Went to currys whose network this is and told there is nothing they can do, and for me to keep switching phone on and off until it starts working again 😒

Need someone to speak too / fix the issue otherwise I will be looking for alternative mobile network

Your device needs to have VoLTE enabled to make and receive calls over 4G. If you have a 4G device, but it doesn’t support VoLTE on the iD Mobile network, then you will need to purchase a phone that supports VoLTE or switch networks.

Is your phone 4g capable, with 3g currently closing in many areas??

Hi @Karen49,

Welcome to the Community!

As @WelshPaul advised you’ll need to enable VoLTE.

Please visit the link below for further information on our 3G Switch off.

My phone is a Google Pixel 3a. It is supported by 4G calling and is VoLTE compatible but I have the same issue. Why is this?

ID Mobile employees and other ‘legends’ who love to hang around on ID Mobile chat boards. Some of us have phones that are 4G compatible but still can’t make calls with supposedly good coverage. Are you sure that checking the link is the only solution? Or is the real truth that something has happened and you can’t tell us what the fix is?

The trouble with Android phones is they can come with a variety of firmware revisions, some customised to work with features on certain networks. If you cannot enable VoLTE while on a certain network, then you have two options available to you.

  1. Buy a phone that is known to work with your network of choice
  2. Switch networks and hope that your existing device will work on that network

Like it or not, those are your options.

Hi.

For around a week now when I am at home or certain locations I am unable to make phone calls or receive phone calls. I have signal and mobile internet works fine. I can also send texts. I am using an Iphone 12 5G capable phone with an Esim. Iphone 12 and above are VOLTE enabled by default. I have a secondary Iphone 12 with a Three sim and it works fine, the problem is not with my phone. I have followed Every step on your website, resetting network etc didnt work. I have reported the problem via webchat and got a text to get in touch with you as you need to ask more technical questions. I am currently in contract but needless to say that I am not happy with the service you are providing, for work and for personal reasons I cannot afford to not to be able to make or receive phonecalls. I dont feel that it is my fault nor that I dont care as I have followed all the instructions you have provided. If this issue cannot be sorted by the end of next week I would like to break contract with you of course without an early exit fee as you are not providing the agreed service. I would kindly appreciate if someone could get in touch with me the webchat is rather useless. Thank you in advance.

It is possible that with the current mass 3G switch off, the THREE network is having issues with VoLTE calls due to high volumes of traffic now hitting the network as a result of said switch off. VoLTE is definitely enabled by default on iPhones and Apple doesn’t allow the networks to mess with their software and so it should ‘just work’.

Below is a current map which includes September dates that show what areas have had their 3G masts turned off to date:

I have an iPhone 15 and have been unable to make or receive calls. My husband and son, in the same room as me and also on iD mobile have no issues.

Thanks, I appreciate the honesty. I won't be buying a new phone and will go with Lebara Mobile who use Vodafone (they offer a 2G network and WIFI Calling for my model). ID Mobile need to be clearer with the list of compatible phones on their network — it's not possible to work this out from the information currently available. I think they've really dropped the ball on this one.

Iphone users I have managed to fix it on my Iphone…. If you are using an Iphone with IOS18 open settings, select apps, scroll down and select phone, and where it says “My number” type your number starting with a 0(zero). Then click save. Try to make a phone call. Worked for me straight away.

Sadly I have had the ‘not able to make or take calls problem’ too and tried all the suggested fixed including re-entering your phone number in Apps - it did NOT make any difference :(

I have an iPhone SE that was working just fine on an iD contract until a week ago - everything else on the phone works well, just not then actual phone element. Multiple iD mobile chats this week got me no where except waste several hours of my week. As I run my own business this problem just isn’t tolerable, so I’ve just ordered an iPhone 16 and am changing provider. Good luck everyone else. iD mobile really need to sort this remarkably common problem asap or they will lose a LOT of customers...
