voicemail "Service does not allow access to tgis number"

I was roaming and could not access my voicemail messages because I hadn’t set a pin in UK. Today in the UK I tried voicemail and got the message "Service does not allow access to this number” I tried dialling 123 rather than voicemail in phone app.

Also yesterday whilst roaming in France I got an English voice saying "number is not recognised” and yet I had been SMS messaging with the person just before calling  When the other person called me back, the call would last between 10 seconds and 30 seconds before the same voice cut in to say "number is not recognised” despite being in middle of conversation.

Are these related and are Three having network issues.

Hi @Denny 58

Have you tried a network settings reset since this happened?

I have checked IOS is latest version, hard rebooted phone, re-entered my phone number, reset network, taken automatic carrier selection off and set to another network, then reselected automatic.

If I dial the mail number in ID services using somebody elses phone I can access my voicemail.

I am at the end of my tether with this. I spent an hour on online chat, first with the useless bot that kept saying dial 123 and set PIN, if only I could. Then a person who must have been doing several chats at once because the person took ages to respond to each simple answer. Nearly a hour in they said it was probably a SIM problem.

I got a new SIM from Currys and activated it, still same problem. I have tried old and then new SIM in two iPhones with same problem. I have set a greeting on my phone, saying “don’t leave a message” and other people can hear it, so I clearly have access to parts of my voicemail. I believe this has to be a network problem because message says “ Your SERVICE does not allow access to this number.” As I said above I have done all suggested fixes for 3G shutdown problems.

I want somebody from ID to contact me directly, I am paying for a service you are unable to provide.

ID customer service is appalling to non existent.I was with Giffgaff for years who run a similar service but their “Ask an Agent” service is great.

Having been through this community for posts “ Your service does not allow access to this number” there are multiple posts over a long period of time which ID claim they have sorted. If this is an ongoing problem one would expect ID to be aware and know how to fix it.

I have solved the voicemail problem. In ID services allow others to leave a voicemail was checked as on. I toggled off voicemail, premium services on, block adult content off. I left them to update. Then turned them back one at a time allowing about 19 mins to update. When I turned voicemail back on it started working. Why couldn’t somebody at ID tell me to try this rather than get a new SIM card
