Xperia xz2 compact - voLTE

Hi

I can't make or receive calls on my Sony Xperia xz2.

Data and SMS are working fine

There's no option in settings for WiFi calling or voLTE.

VoLTE provisioning it's greyed out on *#4636 screen.

I have found a Id mobile support article saying that the xz2 model is volte supported..

But mine is the compact model.

Can anyone help please?

Hi @Juggernogjones

It seems like the Sony XZ2 Compact is not listed as an approved handset for iD Mobile.

Hey there @Juggernogjones, sorry to hear that. So to clarify, when you go into settings, you cannot see Wi-FI calling, and it has greyed out VOLTE, is that correct?

Thanks,

Tyler

Hi @Juggernogjones

We’re sorry to hear this.

To enable VoLTE on your Sony Xperia XZ2 Compact, you'll need to ensure your device and network support it, and then navigate to the settings to activate the feature. Specifically, check for a VoLTE toggle within the "Network & Internet" or "Mobile network" settings, and ensure your preferred network type is set to 4G

Hi Tyler

WiFi calling isn't an option in my settings.

VoLTE isn't in my settings either, but I used the *#*#4636 to check if volte is provisioned, and it's greyed out

Sorry to hear that @Juggernogjones. I see that this Xperia device is supported on our network, however, it doesn’t show that the compact is. Though I’m unsure why the compact version wouldn’t be compatible if the regular version is, however, with the issue being with calls only and yourself having issues with VOLTE and Wi-FI calling, this may be an indication that this is the case.

Have you tried resetting network settings and seeing if this opens these options up for you?

If that doesn’t work, let us know and we’ll drop you a PM.

Thanks,

Tyler

Hi Anika

I have posted a screenshot of my mobile network settings list

And here's a screenshot of my network and Internet settings list.

No mention of WiFi calling or volte

Was this device supplied by a different network? What is the exact firmware revision of the device?

I bought it from Sony a long time ago, and it was working ok with my lebara sim. Didnt think to check approved devices before switching to id mobile.

I'm not sure how to find the firmware version, but it's android 10, and phone settings states the build number is 52.1.A.3.49

I have tried to reset network settings but it's made no difference

Hey there @Juggernogjones, unfortunately as the device isn’t supported on our network, the calls are unlikely to work I’m afraid, and a supported device would need to be used.

Sorry about that.

Thanks,

Tyler
