Cancelling monthly contract

I no longer wish to use my mobile phone and therefore wish to cancel my monthly contract.  I do not have the ID app and cannot find how to go about cancelling my contract.  I notice that numerous people have received PM’s is this what I need to cancel my contract?  Please help me.
