pixel 5 poor signal, dropping signal

I have monthly contract on a pixel 5, and I struggle with poor signal, and even it displaying no signal.

My partner has a pixel 4a on ID and virtually always has signal whenever I have issues. Any ideas?

Surely the pixel 5 should be as capable signal wise as the pixel 4a?

The Pixel 4a is a 4G phone, pixel 5 is a 5G phone. It could be that you have good 4G signal but poor 5G signal at your location.

Signal priority on phones go like this:

2G > 3G >4G >5G

A phone will always try to connect to 5G and if it can’t then 4G and so on. So if you had no 5G service in your area, got 1 bar of service on 4G and full bars on both 3G & 2G your phone would lock on to 4G and you’d have just 1 bar of service displayed on screen.

Try turning off 5G and see if things improve for you.

I have only got the 4g SIM card for the pixel 5. I will check what the 5g setting is, but I believe it is turned off though.

Thanks for idea

There is no such thing as a 5G sim. Networks just enable or disable 5G access on the customers account. I read that ID Mobile have started enabling 5G access to their customer base with compatible handsets?

Worth checking...

Why iD Mobile?
