Call Forwarding iPhone 16

Just got 2 new iPhone 16s for my wife and I and moved from O2 to iD.

Wife works in a school and can no longer make/receive phone calls or messages nor browse the internet within school premises.

Trying to forward her ID number to another sim but failing when using the normal method. Enable Forwarding, enter number, press back, Forwarding switches itself off.

Eventually got calls forwarded using **002*number* but if phone with ID sim is on, it rings there first. If that call is declined it forwards to the other phone.

Am I doing something wrong?

    Hi @Steve61

We’re glad this has been sorted for you.

We will continue the conversation with your wife.

    Hello support team!

ok, I have exactly the same issue with call forwarding as highlighted in this thread - please can someone sort it out asap? Agree that this is an ID mobile issue, never had the problem with other networks.

    Many thanks,

    David

David - I can confirm that for both myself and my wife, the folks at iD Mobile eventually did something at their end to enable this.

However, they were unable (or unwilling) to make the change on my wife’s phone without her going through all the steps I went through one by one with the support team, which took about 2 weeks

    Good luck!

    Thanks Steve!

how did you start this process? Who did you contact?

so frustrating that they can’t just sort it out. Quite clearly there’s the problem lies with IDmobile systems and not the user’s phone.

I’ve had this issue on all three of my iPhones. I escalated it to iD Mobile, who raised a ticket with THREE who responded with the following information:

There are intermittent network-side issues when enabling/disabling/status of call forwards, particularly for users on 4G/5G only or with iPhones. These issues are being investigated.

A possible workaround for setting up call forwards involves:

    • Enabling airplane mode
    • Waiting 30 seconds
    • Disabling airplane mode
    • Enabling the desired call forward (CFU, CFB, CFNRy, or CFNRc) using MMI/ussd/short codes Note that the handset may still display an error message, but the call forward may work. It's recommended to test the call forward by having someone else call your phone number. If it doesn't work, repeat the steps again.

However, 24 hours later, call forwarding began working on all three devices and continues to this day. My contact at iD Mobile informed me that they had done nothing on their end and were puzzled as to how it had started working on all three devices. Three hadn’t updated their support ticket with any further information other than what they originally replied with above.

I’m still curious to know why the issue started working only after ID Mobile raised a support ticket with Three. I believe Three hit the account reset or refresh button on my account, which took 24 hours to complete. Perhaps this is what fixed the problem for me.

I don’t buy in to the “it’s a iPhone” issue story. It is entirely a carrier issue.

I tried SIMS from different carriers in the phones and it worked perfectly. I put the iD sims in other phones that previously worked and they failed. The fact that I had exactly the same issue on 2 brand new iPhone 16s at the same time seems a bit of a coincidence too.

i got this resolved because I was a pain - posting regularly with lots of details and getting on the Live Chat daily. I got a different answer from every support team member I spoke to but after a couple of weeks it miraculously worked and has been fine ever since

    Thank you WelshPaul!

Ok, very weird. I followed these steps and it now appears to be working for me too! It’s a bit intermittent, but I have checked by calling myself from a landline and the calls are forwarded correctly.

Another quick question: If I am roaming and I have call forwarding of my mobile calls to a UK landline, do I get charged for making an international call back to the UK for each incoming call while I am away? (ie: do I get charged for the proportion of the call that goes from my mobile phone number to the number I am forwarding to? Or do the incoming calls just automatically get forwarded in the UK and therefore only count out of my bundled talk minutes? Or do I not get charged at all for incoming calls even if I forward them to a UK landline number?)
    Thanks.

    Hi @dyc

You would be charged at the standard rates.
