@Muzam According to this it’s because 3G has been turned off for your area

You have NO 3G indoors or outdoors

And if you check your phone on their compatibility link (above) it’s not a supported phone.

Have you tested using a SIM card from Three?

Hi @Muzam

Thank you for posting to us here on the community.

We are very sorry to hear you are experiencing issues making/receiving calls.

With the recent 3G switch off, we would recommend taking a look at our support page for guidance on what steps you will need to take in order to use the service.

You can access this from here

If you could please provide your postcode and the make/model of you handset, we would be happy to assist further.

Thanks,

Nat

Hi @Muzam

What phone do you have?
Is your phone connection LTE?
4G is just the generic name given to this generation of network but VoLTE (Voice over LTE) is the actual type of network that is being used and so you need to be able connect to that for your phone to work.
There is plenty of information on the internet with regards to ‘how’ you can rectify this problem for your phone, so just do a search and I’m sure you will find an answer. If not let us know and someone may be able to point you in the right direction.

Good Luck x

As advised by @Decembersangel72, do you have the ability to turn on VoLTE – google it if you don’t know how to or where to look, but you also might have answered your question without realising.

Mobile service providers used to sell you ‘their’ phone locked to their network. This practice was stopped by OFCOM towards the end of 2018 in the UK. Since then all providers whom allow you to buy ‘your’ phone is just that, yours and it couldn’t be locked to their network. So you were free to use any UK providers.

As some of my fellow peers are discovering, Three (and iD Mobile piggyback off them) switched off 3G in certain areas on 23 September and are now finding their phones (purchased/obtained before December 2018) cannot work on the 4G/LTE network.

For our phones to work you need 4G and VoLTE available within the settings of the phone and as some are locked to their previous suppliers software update system they can’t get VoLTE to work or it’s option is greyed out. I personally find this a final stab in the back from their previous provider/supplier.

Some, and although I’ve not personally read it, though it looks like DecembersAngel72 had to unlock their phone by ‘flashing’ the firmware and thus the software to an unlocked version.

As you’ve stated yours was used in America, there’s every chance that ‘yours’ might still be ‘theirs’.

You should be able to navigate to the software version via your phones menus and after getting there look at the last few characters of your Service provider software version (xxx/xxx,xxx/xxx or something similar). Then google them and it should tell you if your phone is truly unlocked or (deep within itself) locked to your carrier in America.

You could also look at options like reflashing your own device but that’s up to you. I’ve personally ‘rooted’ many Android phones and reflashed several of them over the years but haven’t had the need to do so for a few years now, but there’s bound to now be many how to’s out there. Like I said this is your call. (FWIW rooting is the same as jail breaking an iPhone)

Hi @Muzam

Okay, the area of IG2 6YB seems good for 4G signal, 5G may be weak, however the Motorola Edge Plus doesn’t appear to be an officially supported device with iD Mobile SIMs, therefore you may encounter some issues while using both together.

Hi @Muzam

What other network’s SIM’s are you using?

If you’re having the same issue across multiple areas far away from each other, the issue may be the device itself, as stated above your device is not officially supported for usage with iD Mobile.

Those operators still have 3G available on their mobile phone network

iD Mobile use the Three network

And Three have been turning off 3G in various parts of the country, your area included.

Thus you need to have a 4G and more importantly LTE available on your phone.

Trying SIMs from other networks doesn’t mean your phone will work on iD or Three

(and I note you haven’t tried a SIM from Three)

Hi @Muzam

They are all different networks, therefore work completely differently to ourselves, we could not speak for how those networks work.
