Solved

Need new number for sim-only plan, however only option is to switch.

I would like to purchase the

iD Mobile Pay Monthly SIM

30 days rolling

Data: Unlimited

Minutes: Unlimited

Texts: Unlimited

Pay monthly:£15.00

£15 student discount deal

However, I cannot purchase a completely new number without having to switch from something. I am purchasing this for a new device, and require a new number however my ONLY options upon checkout are

  1. Keep my number and switch on SIM arrival
  2. Keep my number and schedule switch now (requires a PAC)
  3. Lose my number & schedule switch now (requires a STAC)

None of these options are applicable to me because I have no number to switch it from, and require a whole new number.

This has been incredibly frustrating so far, the bot live chat has been very unhelpful as well.

This previous user has shared the same experience, however there has been no solution & the user switched providers in the end.

https://community.idmobile.co.uk/ask-a-question-18/new-customer-wanting-a-new-number-but-check-out-only-allows-switching-81307?

I would really appreciate some help on a solution if possible.

If you don’t want to port over a number, choose option one. Also, when chatting to that useless bot, if you want to speak to a person, simply tell it just that.

    Thanks for your help.
when it arrives, will I be able to use the data and will it give me a new number without having to “switch on arrival”?

I understand your frustration. If you need a completely new mobile number rather than transferring an existing one, I would recommend contacting iD Mobile's sales or support team directly and asking whether they can arrange a new-number SIM-only order.

The PAC and STAC options are designed for customers switching an existing number or service, so they may not be suitable for your situation.

You should also ask iD Mobile to confirm whether the £15 student discount offer is available when ordering a new number and what checkout option you should select.

If you're open to comparing student SIM-only deals from other providers, you can also explore Zoiko Mobile student discount plans.

Disclosure: I work with the Zoiko team, and I'm sharing this as an alternative provider for comparison, not as an iD Mobile customer.

    Hi @Gezielle.

Thank you for sharing. I’m sorry for the frustration at checkout. The options are worded in a confusing way for someone who doesn’t have a number to bring over.

To get a brand new number, please choose the first option: “Keep my number and switch on SIM arrival.” This lets your order go through without a PAC or STAC, and a new number will be provisioned for your SIM. You don’t need to transfer anything from another provider.

    Thanks,

    Marquerita
