I switched over to ID mobile but only have one dot on the signal and can’t make calls

Best answer by helenelainekelley

I’ve sorted my problem. I needed to delete the eSIM on the phone. It was still showing previous network provider. Hoping everything will be okay now.

Didn’t you check NETWORK COVERAGE BEFORE you switched❓

Have you looked at the OFCOM mobile coverage checker, @helenelainekelley

https://checker.ofcom.org.uk/en-gb/mobile-coverage

Actual coverage at any given location may vary depending on the mobile service provider you use.

Hi there @helenelainekelley

I have to admit that checker appears to be weighted in their favour. I used it before I joined iD in February (2024) and for the first few months is was pretty accurate and I had a good signal, but since April things are not going too well. The checker has not changed any of the detail regarding 4G since then apart from the loss of 3G. It still claims the 4G is “Excellent” when I know its not (and now so does 3UK as they’ve been tinkering)

You could put your postcode into this as this one as it shows any known faults

https://www.three.co.uk/content/experience-fragments/threedigital/uk/en/site/mvno/network-status-checker/idmobile.html

Also using either the link posted earlier or this one, postcode required:

https://www.three.co.uk/content/experience-fragments/threedigital/uk/en/site/mvno/coverage-checker/idmobile.html

What does it say for 4G (it defaults to this) and then check what 3G shows and the same for 5G.

If 3G has gone have you enabled VoLTE on the phone?

Also are you using a new phone purchased from iD when you took out the contract?

Yep that’ll do it Helen

Plus FWIW iD prefer their SIM in slot 1.

It might be advisable to restart the phone now with just the iD SIM (in slot 1) in and just have a casual glance around the phone to make sure your number is showing as correct (the phones can sometimes retain the provisional number allocated by iD on their SIM)
