Why does it take 24 hours for a new sim card to be activated? That seems absurd in the electronic age. Particularly bad, as I am only changing from one phone to another but ID cards do not seem transferable - I also have a Giff Gaff card and that can just be moved from phone to phone. I am thinking of moving from ID as a result

Our SIM cards become active usually within 1 hour of the request being processed on the system whenever a new SIM card has been issued.
Your current active SIM card should also work fine when it is placed inside another unlocked phone without the need to wait so if you’re facing any issues when moving the SIM card from one phone to another, please let us know more about the issue you’re seeing and we’ll see what we can advise.
