sim card doesnt work

Recently got a new contract with ID mobile, transferred number over and got completion email today. However my new SIM card isn’t working. I have no idea what to do to fix the problem! Chat bot is useless, I know it’s not the phone or signal as friends ID mobile SIM card works in my phone.

i can’t login to my ID mobile account as I need to verify account with code sent to number! How do I go about getting a replacement sim sent with my number transferred to it?

Well a couple of things to consider/try.

You’ve tried your friends SIM in your new phone, but have you tried your iD SIM in their phone (or looking at your other thread) have you tried your iD SIM in your old Vodaphone phone? Do neither show a network connection to iD?

There’s every chance the number might not have fully ported by 10pm too.

But using your iD SIM and your new phone is your ported number showing on this phone? - because you put the iD SIM in before the port took place there’s every chance the provisional number allocated to the iD SIM (pre port) has been retained by the phone, but you trying your friends iD SIM in your phone might have corrected that.

If the wrong number is showing on your new iD SIM and new phone have a read of this:

Hi Daz,

Thanks for your reply. Yes i tried my SIM card is his phone and nothing comes up and also in my old iPhone which didn’t work either. My old vodaphone SIM card worked and my friends id sim worked as well. There is no number linked to the phone.

does this mean it’s a faulty sim?

It might be the SIM. This does happen from time to time when joining iD, as some of the posts on here confirm.

But it’s more likely going to be port issue from looking at both threads. More so as your old Voda SIM appears to be still working. This should, in most cases, be showing no network or emergency calls only. But sometimes the old SIM can stay active for up to 24 hours after the service ends. If that’s the case for you it’s harder to self diagnose. Let’s say the old service dies before iD can to life, you’d then know things were moving.

You could wait for iD to respond on here. Or try live chat in the morning:

iD’s Live Chat team are available 9am - 8pm Monday to Friday, and 9am - 6pm Saturday, Sunday, and Bank Holidays.

You can access Live Chat here: www.idmobile.co.uk/live-chat.

(I’d start the chat with either speak to person or talk to person to bypass their automated chat bot)

iD chat might suggest an eSIM if they think it might be a physical SIM card issue. If that’s something you want to try then they’d email it to you, probably during the chat. You’d need to open the email and QR code on the device you want to use it on. Activating is linked below.

If iD suggest a replacement SIM then it would be far quicker if you pop down to your nearest Currys and ask for a replacement SIM. You would need to activate this too. As you have no number showing you might need to follow the if you’ve not registered for the iD Mobile app or My Account Online method.

Then if no number is still showing then it must be an account/port issue/delay.

But there’s no harm in trying the simple but often effective method of simply powering the phone down completely and restarting the phone as this often gives the SIM a kick start.

I’ve tried restarting my phone several times and still nothing. Just don’t think the SIM card works or hasn’t transferred correctly. Who do I contact about fixing this?

Hi @Will1995

Sorry to hear this, my best recommendation would be a replacement SIM card if the services on the current SIM aren’t working at all.

Live chat, the link is in my previous post

You need to know if the port completed first.

Edit. @Tom Will said his old Voda SIM worked. I wonder if the port took correctly….?

Thanks @Daz_S

Our team can check the port and confirm if it is showing processed. If not, they can begin the investigation as to why.

If the port is processed, they will be able to get the replacement SIM ordered.

Thanks,

Nat
