swapping from vodafone

If I'm with Vodafone, can I just get a pac code and switch to id?  And how long would it take for switch to take effect. I don't think my phone is locked to Vodafone as it's only a couple of years old

    Yes, you can bring your number over from Vodafone and if your phone is a couple of years old, it won’t be locked to Vodafone. Porting your number over usually only takes 24 hours! If you give iD Mobile your PAC on a Monday (before 5pm), your number will be ported over on Tuesday. Ports don’t happen on weekends or bank holidays, so bare that in mind.
