Question

switched numbers

I'm struggling to sort out my number. I have switched my number via a pac code but the number issued by ID is showing on text messages. If I turn off rcs messages then it uses my correct number but left on ot defaults to the sim number. I've tried changing the number on settings but it defaults back to the wrong one. Please can someone tell me what else I can try?

if you are using Google messages.  disable rcs from the message app settings.  open your Google account settings and stop auto verify on

the phone you are using.  then turn rcs back on.  if that doesn't work.  uninstall and reinstall message app

@Adchester Hello was your port completed on it due date and a confirmation about its completion?

So on normal text message you can text and receive or your now ported number but when you enable RCS it communicating on the IDMobile number issued to you?

You could try the steps below to deregister you number on RCS.

AI Overview

To"reset" your RCS message number, you need to de-register your current number from the RCS service on your messaging app, usually by going to the settings within the app and turning off "Chat Features" or "RCS Chats," then re-enable it to re-register with your new number; you can also use a dedicated "disable RCS chat" web page provided by your messaging app provider (like Google Messages) to de-register your number directly.

Key steps:

  • Open your messaging app: Access the app you use for texting, typically "Google Messages" on Android.
  • Go to settings: Navigate to the app's settings menu.
  • Find RCS settings: Look for an option labeled "Chat Features" or "RCS Chats".
  • Turn off RCS: Toggle the "Chat Features" or "RCS Chats" setting to off.
  • Verify on web portal (if needed): Some providers may require you to visit a dedicated web page to confirm the de-registration of your number.
  • Re-enable RCS with new number: Once you have a new number, go back to the settings and re-enable "Chat Features" to register your new number with RCS.

trust me auto verify is the issue.  I tried all the above AI responses.  nothing works until you turn off auto verify.  it will just keep putting in the temp number

I'm sorry for being thick, but where do I find auto verify?

open Google messages, click on your name/initials next to magnifying glass.

select manage your Google account.  select personal info.

scroll down to phone and you should see your number. it may be the temp ID mobile number. select it either way

once loaded you may then see both your old and temp number.  Here it may say which one is verified. possibly both are.  select the one you want to delete. click trash can and exit that page.

on the page from the step above you should see the auto verification toggle for the phone you are using.  turn it off.

I am pretty sure I had to uninstall Google messages and reinstall it as well for it to re verify but not sure
