When to activate my esim

My account should be live in 2 days time. I have received my eSIM QR code, do I activate it now or do I have to wait til Friday? My iPhone has a normal sim currently and I am concerned that installing the eSIM will stop my existing service with my current provider.

Activating the eSIM alongside the existing physical SIM wouldn’t stop the current plan, however to avoid some possible software gremlins, it may be best to activate the eSIM after the physical SIM has switched off and been removed.
