If you've received an eSIM because you selected an eSIM at basket, upgraded to an eSIM only phone, or you’ve been sent a replacement eSIM, you'll need to download it before you can use it. There’s a few ways you can do this:
Important information:
- Your eSIM QR code can only be used once.
- Only download your eSIM to the phone you'll be using.
- Do not exit the setup screen while your eSIM is downloading. It should only take a few minutes.
- You'll get a text once your eSIM is ready to use.
iPhone.
Using an iPhone running on iOS 17.4 or newer?
If you are viewing the email on your phone, you can simply tap the ‘Download eSIM’ button in the email to begin the process automatically.
Otherwise, follow these steps:
- Open ‘Settings’.
- Tap ‘Mobile Service’.
- Tap ‘Set Up Mobile Service’ or ‘Add eSIM’.
- Not connected? Choose a Wi-Fi network to download your eSIM.
- Tap ‘Use QR Code’.
- Scan the QR Code we sent you via email. Or, tap ‘Open Photos’ and upload it.
- Tap ‘Continue’.
- Tap ‘Done’.
Once your eSIM is activated, you may need to update the 'My Number' field to start using your services. Learn more here.
Samsung Galaxy.
- Open ‘Settings’.
- Tap ‘Connections’.
- Tap ‘SIM manager’.
- Tap ‘Add mobile eSIM’.
- Tap ‘Scan QR code’.
- Follow the on-screen steps.
Most other Android phones.
- Open ‘Settings’.
- Tap ‘Network & Internet’.
- Tap ‘SIMs’.
- Tap ‘Download a SIM instead?’ or ‘Set up an eSIM’.
- Tap ‘Next’.
- Follow the on-screen steps.
If your eSIM QR Code is not working or your phone’s camera is damaged, here’s how you can manually activate your eSIM:
iPhone.
- Open ‘Settings’.
- Tap ‘Mobile Service’.
- Tap ‘Set Up Mobile Service’, then ‘Use QR code’.
- Tap ‘Scan QR code’, then ‘Enter Details Manually’.
- Enter the SM-DP+ Address and Activation Code from your email when prompted.
- Tap ‘Continue’.
- Tap ‘Done’.
Samsung Galaxy.
- Open ‘Settings’.
- Tap ‘Connections’.
- Tap ‘SIM manager’.
- Tap ‘Add mobile eSIM’.
- Tap ‘Scan QR code’, then ‘Enter activation code’.
- Enter the code from your email (starting with LPA:1$) when prompted.
- Follow the on-screen steps.
Most other Android phones.
- Open ‘Settings’.
- Tap ‘Network & Internet’.
- Tap ‘SIMs’, then ‘Set up an eSIM’.
- Tap ‘Try these troubleshooting steps’ (or 'Need help?').
- Tap ‘Enter activation code’ or ‘Enter it manually’.
- Enter the code from your email (starting with LPA:1$) when prompted.
- Follow the on-screen steps.
Do I need to activate my eSIM after downloading it?
Whether you're setting up your eSIM for the first time or replacing it, there's no need to activate it—it'll be ready to use once downloaded.
