Sending a text to a number outside the UK? Here's the lowdown on how it works and what it costs.
What is international texting?
International texting is when you send an SMS from the UK to a foreign mobile number. This is different from Roaming, which is using your phone while you're away.
International texts aren't included in your monthly plan. You'll be charged a standard rate for each message sent.

Top tip: Apps like WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger use the internet, not SMS, so messaging friends abroad over Wi-Fi is free. If you and the other person both have an iPhone, your messages will automatically switch to iMessage (blue bubbles) instead of SMS whenever either of you has Wi-Fi or data, so you won't be charged the international text rate either.
Does it cost me to receive a text from abroad?
No. If someone texts you from abroad while you're in the UK, you won't be charged a penny.
