If you are happy with your current phone and want a flexible way to stay connected, Pay as you Go is a great option. Here is everything you need to know.

What is Pay as you Go?

With Pay as you Go, there are no contracts, no credit checks, and no minimum terms. You can top up as much or as little as you like, whenever you need to. You can choose to pay for exactly what you use (standard rates) or buy a monthly bundle (Plan) for better value.

How does it work?

When you first buy a Pay as you Go SIM, you usually pick an initial plan. After 35 days from the date of purchase, this initial plan will expire. Moving forward, you have two options:

Option 1: Top Up (Standard Rates)

If you don't use your phone often, this is the most flexible option. You simply add credit to your account and pay for calls, texts, and data as you use them.

Type Charge
Calls
Standard UK mobile numbers and landlines (starting 01, 02, 03).
3p per minute
Texts
Standard UK text messages.
2p per text
Data
Internet usage per MB.
1p per MB

Option 2: Purchase a Plan (Monthly Bundle)

If you use your phone regularly, it is usually cheaper to buy a Plan. This gives you a set allowance of minutes, texts, and data which lasts for 30 days. There is no auto-renewal, so you just buy a new one when you need it.

Minutes Texts Data Cost
Unlimited Unlimited 1GB £6.00
Unlimited Unlimited 4GB £8.00
Unlimited Unlimited 6GB £10.00
Unlimited Unlimited 20GB £15.00
Unlimited Unlimited Unlimited £20.00

If you want even better value and don't mind a credit check, you might prefer a SIM Only Deal, which offers more data for a lower monthly cost on a 1-month or 12-month contract.

Please note: It is not possible to cancel or refund a Pay as you Go plan after it has been purchased.

FAQs.

Can I use my Top Up credit to purchase a plan?

Yes, as long as your credit balance covers the full cost of the plan. If you don't have enough credit, you can pay the difference using a credit or debit card.

In what order are my allowances used?

We use your allowances in this order:

  1. Add-on allowance (if you bought an extra data/minutes add-on).
  2. Plan allowance (your monthly bundle).
  3. Top Up balance (your cash credit).
