I want to get my 20 year old son a phone and contract but in addition to my contract which is with ID mobile. I can’t find any way to add this on, only to just swap or upgrade mine. I didn’t want to go with someone else but I can’t find a way to do it, can anyone help?

    Hi @Kate rawlinson

If you need a phone + SIM contract then this will have to be set up as a new account.
If you a purchasing the phone outright and then setting up a SIM only plan from iD Mobile then this has the information that should help you with that:-

You can add and pay for a second SIM plan with iD Mobile, but you must purchase it as a separate contract (often requiring a new credit check), not as an add-on to your first SIM; once you have the new SIM, you can then add both plans to your single iD Mobile app account for easy management

How to Get a Second Plan:
    1. Order a New SIM/Plan: Go to the iD Mobile website and order a completely new plan (pay monthly or PAYG).
    2. Credit Check: Expect a credit check for the new application, even if you're an existing customer.
How to Add it to Your Account:
    1. Use the App: Log into the iD Mobile app.
    2. Find "Add Plan": Look for an option like "+ Add new plan" or a similar link (often in the top right).
    3. Enter Details: You'll need the new phone number, last name, and date of birth to link the new contract to your existing login.
Key Takeaway: You can't just "add a second SIM" to your first plan; you buy a second plan and then consolidate them into one account in the app.

    In essence:-

You just need to purchase the new PAYG SIM as usual online, and then follow the procedure below:

    Hope this helps x

    Hi @Kate rawlinson ,

You can absolutely take out an additional contract with iD Mobile for your son; it doesn’t need to be an upgrade or replacement of your existing plan. Additional contracts are placed as new orders rather than added directly within your current online account.

You can do this by placing a new order on our website in your name, or in your son’s name(over 18 years old) if you prefer. If the contract is in your name, you’ll be the account holder and responsible for the billing. If it’s in his name, he’ll need to complete the order himself and pass the credit check.

Once the new contract is active, it can be managed through a separate iD Mobile online account, or you can register both numbers under your details if applicable.

If you’d like any help choosing a suitable phone or plan, you can use the link, https://www.idmobile.co.uk/
