Question

is really my only option to cancel?

I was looking to upgrade to an iPhone 16pro, but I'm a Sim only customer, which means that apparently I can't get the phone I want.

Is that the case?

I genuinely had no issues with ID,  so it seems like a shame

@Periwinkle23 please call the sales team on 02071391397 between 9am-6pm Monday-Friday, and they should be able to help further.

Hi @Periwinkle23 sometimes our systems won’t allow an upgrade from a low tier SIM only to a high tier handset plan.

You could try purchasing a new plan and triangular port the number over?

I would totally be fine with that option @Siân  but according to the chat advisor that was impossible.

It looks like the cheapest (and most efficient thing to do) is to lose my number and get a new contract

You would have to purchase a new contract with handset and a new number from iD. Get a PAC code off iD for your old number and then transfer that number to another network PAYG (Three & ASDA mobile are recommended as you don’t have to top up apparently). Once the number you want to keep ports to the new PAYG SIM wait until the day after and request another PAC code from them. Give this new PAC to iD and they will transfer your old number onto your new plan. Hope this makes sense. Can all be done in 3 working days.

Hi @Periwinkle23

I’m unsure why the advisor has advised a triangle port is impossible.

Following @MZone advice above, I don’t see why this wouldn’t be possible.

Thanks for the help here @MZone

Anika

Sounds like the adviser might have been inexperienced, or maybe just couldn’t be bothered, @Periwinkle23

A triangle port is a faff and takes several days or more, but is not impossible.
