Question

Keeping my old number

Hi,

I'm currently on a pay as you go sim card with ID Mobile. It wouldn't allow me to upgrade so I instead get a monthly eSim deal with ID Mobile. But that new simple card has come with a new number. How do I transfer my old number from my ID mobile sim to the new one? I've tried witb a PAC but keep getting an error code.

    Hi @LP26

Thank you for sharing, however I am terribly sorry as the system does not allow us to port internally. You can however transfer from a different network to our network or transfer from our network to a different network. The only way to keep your number with iD mobile is to do an upgrade from your old contract which will convert to a new one keeping your old number.

This is mentioned on our iD Community website and the links are below:

Hi i have this problem i phoned id direct instead if using the web chat so i could talk to a human !  Basically i have 2 contracts with id 1 which is my unlimited sim only data and another which is a phone contract which is due to run out ! I wanted my number from my phone contract to be transferred to my sim only data card ! I was told that id dont transfer id numbers if its already on id and the only way to keep my id phone contract number was to get a pay as you go sim from another network and port my number to that sim then get a pac number from that pay as you go sim and give it to id mobile which in my opinion is a lot of hassle ! Ive never ever had this problem with any other network ive just changed my numbers over before theyve just swapped my number over ive never had to transfer to another network then change it back to the network your using !

    Hi @Simoak,

I'm sorry to hear about the difficulties you've had with this.

What you've been told is correct. Unfortunately, iD Mobile doesn't support internal number transfers between iD Mobile accounts.

This means that if you have:

    • An existing iD Mobile phone contract with the number you want to keep, and
    • An existing iD Mobile SIM-only plan,

we can't move the number directly from one iD Mobile account to another.

    The workaround is to:

    1. Transfer the number from iD Mobile to another network using a PAC.
    2. Once the transfer completes, request a new PAC from that network.
    3. Transfer the number back onto the iD Mobile plan you want to keep.

We completely understand that this can feel inconvenient, especially if you've been able to move numbers internally with other providers in the past. However, this is currently the only way to move an existing iD Mobile number onto another iD Mobile account while keeping that number.

We apologise for any frustration this causes.

    Regards,
