I have a monthly contract which ends in 6 days and I want to change it to a sim only. My current contract is under my parent’s name and I will have to take out a new contract in my name. However, I realised I need to give 30 days notice for a cancellation or else my contract will continue as normal. If i cancel it immediately when will I be able to get a sim to ensure I do not pay for two contracts at once. Follow up question as well, when I take out a sim only contract does the billing cycle start immediately or when i activate the sim?

Just to add<snipped>My current contract is under my parent’s name and I will have to take out a new contract in my name.Currently iDM are only able to port a number over from third party networks. So if you want to retain your number and move it to your own account you’d need to triangle port → your parent needs to request a PAC and move your number over to another network (a free PAYG will suffice as there’s no credit check), then after your number goes live on this other network leave it there (ideally) for 24 hours. You then request a PAC from them and give it to iDM. Your number is then under your new account.
