I have a monthly contract which ends in 6 days and I want to change it to a sim only. My current contract is under my parent’s name and I will have to take out a new contract in my name. However, I realised I need to give 30 days notice for a cancellation or else my contract will continue as normal. If i cancel it immediately when will I be able to get a sim to ensure I do not pay for two contracts at once.

Follow up question as well, when I take out a sim only contract does the billing cycle start immediately or when i activate the sim?

Currently iDM are only able to port a number over from third party networks. So if you want to retain your number and move it to your own account you’d need to triangle port → your parent needs to request a PAC and move your number over to another network (a free PAYG will suffice as there’s no credit check), then after your number goes live on this other network leave it there (ideally) for 24 hours. You then request a PAC from them and give it to iDM. Your number is then under your new account.

Hey there @WSB, sorry for us only getting back to you now, this has only just appeared our end.

I would like to think this is now resolved, but if not, please do let us know, and our apologies again for the wait on this.

Thanks,

Tyler

It has not been resolved but my contract has ended now.

I can either change to a sim only monthly contract under my parents name or open a new sim only contract under my name.

The new billing cycle just started should I cancel now letting the current contract run out at the end of the month and just open a new contract when it ends.

If you give notice of cancellation, it takes 30-days before your pay monthly contract ends, @WSB

At iD Mobile, the billing cycle begins when your iD SIM (for your new iD contract) is dispatched.

Your new iD SIM should arrive activated and ready to use with your phone.

Hi @WSB

Thanks for getting back to us.

The choice on whether to continue on a SIM only under another persons name or a apply for a SIM only in your name would be yours.

If you submit the cancellation of the current plan, as @Daz_S has explained, you would need to complete a triangle port in order to retain the number.

Thanks
