New phone and plan, cancelling sim only

I've ordered a new phone and plan from Carphone Warehouse on ID mobile as an upgrade as the deal was better than from ID mobile direct. I currently have a SIM only plan through ID mobile, which I will cancel once the contract starts on my new device. How do I go about keeping my existing number please?

It would be good if in these situations, a conversation with a human would be possible too!

Thanks in advance.

You will have to port the number you want to keep out to another network and then port it back over to iD Mobile once again.

That's a bit of a fart on. Might cancel the upgrade and switch from ID to another provider. That seems to be simpler.

Hi @SureShot,

Unfortunately we don’t support internal number ports.

Sorry for any inconvenience caused.

@Kash ,

I've looked further into it and ordered a free SIM so I can as the first reply suggested.

I'll just pay a small bit extra whilst I do all that. As the new phone supports esim, I'm hoping it can be done very quickly.

Thanks
