Wean should I cancel my contract

My phone contract is due to end on the 22nd September this year. I’d like to continue with ID but SIM only. What is the best way to handle this and key dates? I don’t want to get into verbal discussions as I have an hearing issue which is not helped by speaking to someone with a strong accent

P.S.  Generally available deals seem to be better by just starting again as opposed to “upgrading” which is odd

Many thanks

Hi @Gollom

We’d recommend checking your iD Mobile app once your contracted term ends as at that point, upgrades to a SIM only plan will become available.

Thanks for the reply. But if I do that, wouldn’t I be paying a month more on my current contract than I need to?

Many thanks

Hi there @Gollom, all contracts require 30-days notice for a regular disconnection, so we’d recommend requesting it 30-days from the expiry date if you wish to cancel on that date. Or, you can request a PAC code to transfer your number to another network if you wish.

Thanks,

Tyler

Thanks for that. But I don’t want to cancel with ID (like the service) but just change to SIM only. How can I do that without incurring unnecessary cost on my existing contract and not losing service or my number? (No SIM only showing on my upgrade page)

Thanks

Hi there @Gollom, no problem. If you wish to upgrade/plan change to SIM only, you’ll need to go onto the “Upgrades” or “Plan change” tab when you’re eligible to, and select a plan from there. If plan isn’t there that you like, then you can call our sales team on 02071391397 between 9am-6pm, Monday-Friday, and they may be able to offer you another deal.

Thanks,

Tyler

Thanks for the reply. No SIM only showing but that may be because my contract does not end till 22/9? I have hearing issues so speaking to somebody does not really work for me

Cheers

Hi there @Gollom, no problem at all. It is likely not showing any yet due to your contract end date. What plan are you on, 1-month rolling, 12-month or 24-month please? Also, is your current plan SIM only or a phone contract?

Secondly, in terms of calling the sales team, if you cannot do so as you’re hard of hearing, then of course we’d understand, so I’d recommend contacting our live-chat when you’re eliglbe to change plan/upgrade if none show that you’re happy with and explain your reasoning for contacting.

My current contract is a 24 month phone. An earlier response suggested that SIM only is not shown until on or after my current contract end date - this accurate?

Thanks for the chat link

Hi @Gollom, if you’re on a 24-month plan, then we typically offer early upgrades as a gesture up-to 60-days before the contract end date. Therefore, if your contract ends on 22/09/25, then you should be available to upgrade right now. I’d recommend contacting the live-chat to see if they can assist further with a plan change, however, it may well be the case that you can’t change to SIM only until the original contract ends.

Thanks,

Tyler
