New ID simcard not working

I have been sent a new sim and tried to put it in my new phone - It does not work so would like to cancel the contract.

Log in to account and check sim is activated.

Restart mobile.

Try to search network manually.

Is this a new SIM from an upgrade or a brand new contract purchase?
