Changing provider

Hello, does anybody know if I can change my monthly sim to another provider while keeping the actual phone contact with ID? And if so, does this incur a charge? Where I want to travel isn’t on their roaming plan!

No, this isn’t possible. If you port your number out to another provider, your iD Plan will be closed.

Hi @Steph1997x

Depending on where you are visiting (EU only) it may be worth looking at a SMARTY plan to see if they cover it.
They also ‘piggy back’ the THREE network (just like iD Mobile) and have comparable pricing.

If you are visiting outside of europe then you can find the charges for each country here..

As for using the same number for two different plans, this is not possible as explained by @WelshPaul

Another option is to take out a second cheap plan with SMARTY (keeping your main contract with iD Mobile) to use whilst roaming but with a seperate number.

Hope this helps x x

Hello,

Thank you for your reply. Am I able to purchase and use a smarty add on while my phone contract and sim are with id mobile?

Hi @Steph1997x

Phones are no longer locked to specific networks and so a SMARTY SIM should work OK in your phone.
You can purchase a new SIM only deal, where you will be supplied with a new number, with SMARTY but you CAN’T use the same number on both networks, it’s either one or the other.
If you are OK with having 2 numbers, then all you need to do is purchase a new plan with SMARTY and then swap the SIMS as and when needed i.e. use the iD Mobile SIM whilst ‘home’ and use the SMARTY one when abroad. You can also try the SMARTY SIM in your phone while still here to ensure it works before going abroad.
The good thing with a SMARTY plan is that it is month to month so there isn’t a large cost if you want to end the contract.
If SMARTY fulfills your need with regards to using one of their SIMS/Plans abroad then it may well be worth a try. I can’t promise that it’ll work but it won’t be expensive to try.

Good luck x
