I  currently have two contracts with ID mobile which I bought in August 2024.  I have two more that will run their course and I would like to move these also to ID mobile.  These are for all the family members and I pay them all so the contract is in my name.   I have seen multiple threads about people being refused contracts for internal security checks.  The theme running through these is possibly that there is a maximum number of contracts possible per person over a specific time frame.  Is it possible to share this information so that I may forward plan the migration to your services?

Many thanks for your advise @Tom , I did indeed examine my credit report and was able to confirm that only one “hard” search had been made by yourselves in August and one soft search in October, what was interesting was that ID mobile does not update the credit report for over 15 days after the billing date (billing date is the 5th of a given month, update date is the 20th) , which given the advice previously given that you can only apply for a 3rd contract after 3 successful payments may in fact have a bearing on refusals.

It is also worth noting that I had applied for a contract on the 31st of Oct (the date of the soft search) which was refused, and once more on the 7th Nov (having assumed the third payment had then cleared), on the 7th Nov, no credit search hard or soft had been made, so it is possible, that the archived data of the 31st had been used, which would obviously return the precious fail.

This information may be helpful, as many have suggested there is very little clarity or information given over a refusal, which is frustrating and leads to somewhat terse requests.

Hey there @KevinS71, thank you for reaching out.

Unfortunately, we cannot give you an exact number of contracts that one person can have, as there are numerous factors involved, such as credit and security checks, the price of all the contracts and tariffs, if their phone or SIM contracts etc etc.

All we can advise is that all customers are welcome to apply for as many contracts as they wish, and will be subject to the usual credit and security checks.

Generally speaking, if you order more than one contract with us in quick successions, there’s a higher chance of an order being declined.

Thanks,

@Tyler Thank you for your answer.   Prior to applying for a new contract,  is there anyone I can contact in advance to note if there is an issue that will mean it will be declined.   Also when purchasing contracts via 3rd party sites, is the credit check carried out by yourself or them. Is there a recommendation as to time frames between applications,  as I recall that in the first instance there was a limit of only 2 contracts being able to be purchased at one time.

Many thanks for your time.  I appreciate that some of the issues around credit checks,  security checks have garnered a lot of negative comments in other threads ( I read them to try and gain an answer prior to posting the question).

I further appreciate that each company sets is own agenda as to the risks associated with multiple contracts in one name.

For myself as a husband and father,  I just want to keep all my bills in one place to keep everyone happy!

Hi @KevinS71

We would only recommend that you contact your credit score/file provider for any insights and information as to your credit rating.

A credit check would still be performed by us when purchasing via a third party site.

We’d recommend allowing at least 90 days between credit check applications.

A lot of posts that are typically made about credit/security checks are after one has been failed, therefore possibly made in anger and not completely objective about the subject, all credit/security checks are completely individual to the person who is taking those checks, it’s always worth making sure that information such as addresses, names etc is all up to date when entering and with your bank.
