Hi I cannot see a topic about getting a telephone number when I purchase a sim, it only mentions about keeping you current number which I do not want to do

All new sims will come with a new number and already activated as standard
(unless you arrange a replacement or report it lost or stolen)
Transferring an old number over is just an optional service ID Mobile offer.
Please keep all emails and paperwork that arrive with your SIM car as it will contain details of your new number and online ID Mobile account activation.

If you've just purchased a new connection and received your new SIM card, it should already be activated. Simply pop it into your handset and you're good to go.All you need is contained in this link below
