sim only deal upgrade

Im updating my SIM only deal with ID. I've been told my upgrade is complete.
The ID app is asking if I'm using my new SIM card. ID told me that even though I will receive a new SIM, I can ignore it and use my existing SIM.

Thus how do I answer the question about "am I using my new SIM card"?
Thanks

Hello @Johntedmoore,

This used to be what was advised, however, we now advise it's best to start using the new SIM and activating this, because we've found people to accidentally activate the new SIM when abroad or in situations where they no longer have the old SIM and that causes more issues.

As @Hikari advised, keep saying no until the SIM arrives, then tap Yes and start using the new SIM.

Hey @Johntedmoore

I have had it as well. Until you receive your new sim just keep saying "no". When your new sim arrives by post just swap them and answer "yes" it will get activated and you will able to use it again within an hour.

Kind Regards

Thanks for your reply
The confusing thing is that the ID assistant said that there is no need to replace the SIM card.
Can anyone from ID clarify this?

Hi Mohammad, this is also what I was advised, because of this I just clicked yes because I didn’t think I had to change the sim. I now have no service, do I still need to wait for it to arrive? What should I do?

Hey @Naomi

I am sorry for your inconvenience in the situation. To be honest the easiest option for you will be just to wait for your new SIM, it should not take longer than 2 days to arrive from the date it was posted. I understand it may not be ideal situation but trying to make your current Sim active might take more time than getting new SIM and swapping it over.

Kind Regards

Hi, I am in a similar position, where I was told that I would not need the other SIM sent to me, and so have selected 'yes' on the ID app dialogue.
I am currently away from where the SIM will be sent to and will be for some time, so cannot get the new SIM. Do you know how to reactivate the old SIM, which I'm still using, and disregard the new one?

Thanks,
Alex

Hello @Adquinn,

It's not possible to re-activate the old SIM.

If you'd like, you can purchase a SIM from a local Carphone Warehouse store and we can activate this for you? We'll even cover the cost of the £5.00/reimburse you for this once activated due to this.

Would it be possible for you to email us to allow us to do this?

Please include a link to this topic so we're aware of the issue.
