There are two phones in our house, a Moto G1 (my wife’s) and a Moto G5 (mine). They are both on IDmobile using Three’s network. They are side by side. The G1 shows good signal strength (3g I think) whereas the G5 (4g) shows nothing. I just tried sending a text with it and the Text app said “waiting for connection”. According to the coverage chart, we’re in a 4G area just north of Rugeley town centre (Staffs). Why does the newer phone have no signal? Should it not switch to 3G if the 4G strength is low?

I’m literally having the same problem 4g is slow and 1 bar has been since I got the phone last week, 3G speeds are flying but still not acceptable but that is how I got round it switching to 3G, not that you should Id are terrible

Hello @RichardC @Idsoslow,

Have you both tried swapping the SIMS into the other handset and see if this is the same?

If so, then the issue is handset related. If it works in the other, then the issue may be the SIM Card.

Let us know when you’ve tested this.
