I am in my upgrading window, 2 months before, and I would like to take advantage of a SIM only deal as I have managed to bag a OnePlus 8T for £450 from JL! Why don't iD Mobile stock OnePlus phones anymore?! I got the 6T and it's been a great phone the last 2 years.
But that's not the question. So I am upgrading my contract, as the SIM deal is in my upgrade section, so it would finish my 2 year pay monthly contract and start the 12 month SIM only contract even if I upgrade now? Also, do I need to be sent a new SIM, can't the one I have be changed automatically?

If you have logged into your iD app/account and selected My Account > Upgrade
Then that plan you select will replace your current one whenever you checkout.
A new SIM is often sent with the upgrade, we do recommend using it but you can simply not, just don’t activate it in the future by accident or you may be without service.
