December 2020 - Can't send SMS messages - "Can't send message with Three Mobile - error 330"

Hi there,

I've been unable to send SMS messages for a week and receive a "Can't send message with Three Mobile - error 330" error when attempting to send from my Android phone.

I can receive SMS and make & receive calls.

  • The APN settings have been verified as correct by a Carphone Warehouse tech.
  • We have also factory reset the phone (Honor 10 Lite - which is an approved handset)

I have tested an O2 SIM in the phone and am able to send and receive messages without issue, so this is definitely a problem with the ID Mobile service, my identity on the network, or both.  (Not an issue with SMS application, local software configuration nor anything else in my control).

In the absence of any chat availability, phone number, email address or similar human contact method, I have posted here for assistance.

I would appreciate a reply from ID as soon as possible, providing a resolution or clear next steps as I have already spend 6 hours & travelled 50 miles to achieve this much.  My community email address is linked to the relevant phone account.

Thank you,

James

I resolved this issue when I found the “SMS Center Number” was unset and did not automatically update with network registration.

Steps to resolve:

  1. Search for “About Phone” in Settings
  2. Click into “Status”
  3. Click into “Network”
  4. (Select relevant SIM)
  5. Set the “SMS center number” to “+447782000800

These settings are separate from the MMS APN configuration (which is found in Settings > Mobile network > Mobile Data > Access Point Names).

Hope this saves someone else some trouble.
