I have just upgraded my sim only monthly contract and have been issued with a replacement sim card. Why does the existing sim card have to be replaced?

Hi @dmtraynor,

 

With handsets changing all the time, and they type of service changing from 3G, to 4G to potentially 5G, it’s important that we keep customers up to date with the SIM cards they’re using so that they’re ready for any potential changes if ever they happen.

 

If the SIM you’ve been sent out hasn’t automatically activated, then you can continue to use your old one. We’d just recommend keeping the new one somewhere safe.
