Timeline for 5G compatible phones

Hi,

I was wondering if there was a timeline for when new phones will work with 5G? Thinking of getting the Moto g 5G plus but noticed that it’s not on the list below.

https://www.idmobile.co.uk/5g

Also noticed some peculiarities such as Samsung Galaxy S21 is supported but the Samsung Galaxy S20 is not even though it has 5g.

Hi @Ippy

The most up to date list of 5G compatible devices that we have tested and approved for use on our 5G network can be found here

Some devices may be 5G capable as built and designed by the manufacturer; however, we also have to run vigorous testing to see whether the mobile device runs smoothly on our network.

Once these tests are done and we are satisfied that the mobile device is fully compatible we will add it to the list of devices I shared above.

It should be noted that, you may have a 5G enabled/capable device and it may still even work on our 5G network before we have had a chance to test it out yet. However, until the device name is on the list, we cannot guarantee our customers that the particular mobile will work.

I hope that answers your question :)

Hi @Emil ,

thanks for getting back to me. That partly answers my question. I was wondering if there is a list of devices that are currently being tested?

Thanks.

Hi @Ippy no worries at all. Unfortunately there isn’t there is only a list for confirmed devices that we update as and when a device is approved.

Hi @Emil

Thanks for clarifying. Hopefully the phone I’m getting will be added soon otherwise I might have to switch networks which would be a shame :/
