Question

Does the Pixel 6 on a contract with ID come with an unlockable bootloader?

I intend to install a custom OS (grapheneos) on a pixel 6, not sure if I should get it straight from google or from iD.

Some carriers prevent the bootloader from being unlocked on contract phones, so I thought I’d check first.

Hi @joethh

I have just checked this on the Grapheneos website and can confirm they do not support this yet on the Google Pixel 6.

@Mohsin the first builds are coming out now, but the question wasn’t whether grapheneos supports the pixel 6, but rather will ID Mobile allow unlocking of the bootloader so we can install grapheneos?

I researched it a bit more and all iD phones come network unlocked, and therefore bootloader unlocked. I can also confirm because I got a Pixel 6 from iD after posting this and the "OEM Unlock" option is toggleable.
