Poor reception and no outgoing calls in SN8 area.

Dear ID Mobile,

Is there any underlying problem with the SN8 4HR area on ID mobile network? I’ve had awful reception for voice calls and intermittent sms text messages since the middle of last week.

Is there maintenance on our local transmitter or just the new normal for my area?

Nothing reported at https://www.three.co.uk/support/network-and-coverage/coverage, @Steve K.

Though the forum members here don’t have access to detailed network status information.

I appreciate the swift answer, thank you.

Is there anyway to get through to ID’s tech support? I chose ID because of the good coverage for my rural location but recently the coverage has been very patchy at best.

Just checked via your link and the map show fantastic coverage but I’m not having that experience personally here now.

Any reason why the drop off recently?

Monday 09:49 and currently mobile network not available.

Do I give Three a ring to see how to improve the situation?

Unfortunately @Steve K, forum members like us don’t have access to detailed network status information.

The online coverage checker is only a theoretical prediction of coverage for any given location, base on computer models.

Sounds like Three UK might be working on their network in your area, preparing for 3G shutdown, which is due for completion by end of 2024.

As a iD Mobile customer, you’ll need to ask iD support about your area - unfortunately, Three won’t help non-Three customers.

I did try using their ‘Live Chat’ but unfortunately as about as useful as a chocolate teapot and knew less than I did.

Just a waste of my time in all honesty.

Tell the 24/7 iD chatbot you want to “talk to a person”, @Steve K - assuming you haven’t already chatted with an adviser.

Done that and just had the most frustrating chat with an adviser.

Just shocking service tbh.

So there’s network congestion that will magically clear at 22:59 tonight.

Yeah @Steve K, in my experience iD Mobile are great value when their services are working.

If not, I found iD can be particularly frustrating to deal with, especially via Live Chat.

For me, the support I got via Facebook Messenger or X (formerly Twitter) was much better.

Just to update this thread I was very much assured yesterday that the issue of poor or no reception leading to no calls or text the odd random text getting through would be cleared by midnight last night.

It hasn’t and if anything it’s worst today than before! Grrr!

Not sure the iD Live Chat advisers always have access to reliable information about the iD network status, @Steve K

Hi @Steve K

Sorry to hear this, taking a look the area of SN8 4HR could be quite patchy generally, we’d expect some issues in this area.

My sons are on ID the same as me and have no issues so I’m due a replacement sim that should help, apparently.

What handset are you using with your iD SIM, @Steve K

There appears to be reports of call quality issues with some Google Pixel devices running Android 14.

This company are shocking!!

Tuesday I was promised a new simcard. Today I’ve checked on where it is and apparently they haven’t sent one yet. I will now get it Monday, at the soonest.

Just wtf! Shocking service especially when informed the replacement simcard needs to be here as I’m a carer for 3 elderly people and I need this to be contactable. Which currently I’m not!!

Not call quality but just no connectivity to my local mast apparently. Everywhere else seems to be trouble free but I can’t make or receive calls and get texts about once every couple of hours.

Hope your replacement SIM gets this fixed, @Steve K

FYI, replacement iD SIM cards are not activated, so it’ll need to be activated before use - once it finally arrives.

🤞

Thanks

After being told my replacement would be sent Tuesday knowing full well why I needed a replacement one and then to find today that that hasn’t actually happened is just awful customer service imo.

They said go to your local Curry they say, that’s an almost 40 mile round trip for me just.

Hi @Steve K

Okay, if someone else is on iD Mobile and not having issues that would point towards a SIM or device issue.

Do you still need a replacement SIM card sent?

Please let us know if so so we can get in touch.

We’ll be able to get in contact with you to assist here, or for a quicker service, we’d recommend using the Live Chat, Facebook or Twitter.
