New SIM - mobile data and calls not supported

Hi All, I have a new SIM with ID mobile and a new phone.   The mobile data isn't working at all and on making calls, either the call doesn't connect or when it does the person I'm calling says the line is really unclear / I'm cutting out when speaking.  And if they try to call me, they can't hear me at all.  

What could be the issue here please? 

I'm waiting for my old number to be ported today, but this issue has been for the last few days and I'm really frustrated that there is no online help from ID mobile, just the chat function, that sends you round and round in circles...
