WIFI calling not working iphone 15 pro max

Forum|alt.badge.img

Hi,

I live in an area with no signal most of the time. I have had no functionality of WiFi calling since yesterday morning on my ID Mobile number (physical sim) .worked perfectly before.

i have an e sim on Vodafone on same phone with WiFi calling working perfectly on that in same WiFi network.

i have an IPhone 15 Pro Max with the latest software.

i have contacted the broadband provider and apple support at length with everything seeming fine.

I have toggled Wi-Fi calling on and off multiple times. I have reset network settings multiple times. I’ve turned off the phone multiple times I’ve used aeroplane mode only. And it works perfectly with the Vodafone Sim but the ID sim when on aeroplane mode comes up with an error message saying please connect to Wi-Fi.

i have been to curry’s and got a new physical sim and installed it and still not working.
Seems like ID network is not recognising that I am connected to a Wi-Fi network.

I have obviously talked to ID customer Support over chats multiple times and they have Said that it is either the Wi-Fi companies’s problem or Apple’s problem. It is neither , given another sim works perfectly on same device and WiFi network

i am at a complete loss , really need this to work as I run a business and cannot receive or make calls at home . I will have to leave ID unless they can fix this.

Is there anyone out there that can help?

thanks!

Just a little update . I read on a three mobile forum from someone having a similar problem that they had released 64.2 carrier update . And sure enough they have, I’ve updated to it and now my Wi-Fi calling is working on ID mobile again! It does not work when aeroplane mode is activated like My Vodafone Sim dows which I don’t understand why but nonetheless this is fine for me!

Thanks for your help guys!

Try doing a forced reset on the iPhone. Quickly press and release the volume up button, then quickly press and release the volume down button. After that, press and hold the side button until the Apple logo appears on the screen, then release the button. This process forces the device to restart, which can help resolve software glitches or frozen screens.

Also try toggling your WiFi calling off for a few hours and then try enabling it again.

Have you tried connecting to other WiFi networks to see if it works or not.

Bear in mind if your mobile network signal is strong then it won’t default to WiFi calling.

Last resort try resetting network settings. You will lose all WiFi password tho by doing this.

Have you checked how many bars of mobile signal you have when you notice WiFi calling is not active?

Like I said WiFi calling only enables when the mobile signal is weak and is meant to be for backup only.

I am showing 2 bars out of 4 now via 4G and WiFi calling is showing as active.

Have you tried turning your home router off for a few minutes then putting it back on again - worth a try.

Failing that I suggest you try and get live chat to escalate it to technical support or raise a complaint.

Done that. WiFi calling works and is meant to work when you have zero signal at all. It works even when airplane mode only is activated . It’s not really for back up only. There’s people up and down the country who have no signal at all in their homes and rely on Wi-Fi calling like me.

Are you using iOS 18.5 with Network Provider “Three 64.1” or “iD 64.1”, @Tom01914

Seems Three and their MVNO carriers have added a new setting (very recently), which seems to have broken the WiFi Calling service on the Three mobile network.

I have iPhones that have worked perfectly with WiFi Calling for a long time. Now after updating to iOS 18.5 and accepting the carrier update, WiFi Calling doesn’t work with my SMARTY and Three PAYG SIM cards.

However, using the same iPhone devices with a giffgaff SIM card WiFi Calling works perfectly - the giffgaff Network Provider is “giffgaff 64.0”, which seems to be the initial version for iOS 18.5 update.

Also seen seem similar issues reported in the EE community.

I am currently on iOS 18.5 and carrier version iD 64.0. When I went to get this info it asked me if I wanted to update carrier setting so I clicked not now after reading the above.

@Tom01914 can you check settings about and then post the text by network provider so we can see if your issue maybe linked to the above.

Morning @Tom01914,  @andewhite and @MZone,

I’ve escalated this with 3UK, I suspect the issue is as discussed around the 64.1 carrier update. I’ll get back to you here once I hear more information!

Thanks.

Yes you’re right . 64.0 works. 64.1 doesn’t work

Thanks for the heads up @Tom01914. After I read this I noticed my WiFi calling was not working (it had been working until some point in the afternoon when I last noticed it was on) so I went to check carrier version and noticed I was now on 64.1 so the phone must have updated it in the background! Luckily 64.2 out now so manually updated to that and all golden again.

Can anyone confirm if WiFi calling worked in airplane mode before the carrier update debacle?

I went back into ‘about ‘ section and scrolled down to network and it had another update . I updated once again manually and now ID works with WIFI calling in aeroplane mode! 👌

I just put on airplane mode. Switched WiFi calling off and on again and it works on airplane mode now.

@Matthew T Thanks for listening and raising it so quickly! iD was getting praised on the Three forums as you were keeping customers updated. Three didn’t even acknowledge the issue with their customers and they are the main MNO!
