Question

potenial scam

I’ve several different mobile numbers ringing me telling me they are from ID mobile, one of which sent me an email verification code. Offered me an upgrade and took a deposit but sent the wrong phone. Also said they will wipe my bill of £49! as it was a sim error on they’re behalf. Can someone confirm a number for ID please

Thank you for that @Luciewright94, I’m unsure that this is an iD Mobile phone number, so we’ll look into that further. When you received email confirmation, can you let us know what email address that was from please?

Also, what details were requested over the phone?

Thanks,

Tyler

07871 numbers are officially allocated to O2 for mobile phone services. I highly doubt iD Mobile would call you from a mobile number, let alone one supplied by a competitor.

noreply@idmobile.co.uk Was the email the verification code came from. They rang me following a comment I posted on here last week

Scammers regularly visit forums and call up posters who share their private information publicly, pretending to be from said company. Alternatively, they may send a private message requesting personal information under the guise of looking up their customer account details.

FYI - The code probably did come from iD Mobile. I can have iD Mobile send you a code, and I’m a customer just like you. You should never give out OTPs to anyone, ever.

Hey there @Luciewright94, we would indeed recommend contacting your bank surrounding this, as we obviously wouldn’t charge you under Tesco Mobile, and wouldn’t be us. We’d also recommend reporting as fraud to Action Fraud if you believe it to be so:

Thanks,
