I was due to be switched to ID mobile from Giffgaff by 10pm last night. Nothing has happened and, despite several live chats during the day yesterday, I’m still waiting. I realised that I needed an eSIM, not a physical one, after the SIM arrived but can’t do anything about requesting a QR code for that as I can’t get into the app - because I can’t confirm my membership with the one-off code texted to the phone which doesn’t yet have signal. It’s a vicious circle which is hugely frustrating. The most worrying thing, though, is that without a functioning mobile signal I can’t be in touch with my 91 year-old mother. Is there any way to get to the bottom of this and get my number back?

Actually, the guy at Curry’s sorted me right out. He liaised with ID Mobile to get me a OTP using the physical sim in his phone. They then sent me a QR code for an eSIM and I’m all done. Phew. I’d have really struggled otherwise.
