Calling Australia from the UK

I am trying to phone Australia from the UK on a UK sim but I just get a message saying “sorry your plan doesn’t allow this call’ but when I checked it was a cost to call but it did not say that I couldn’t. Please help!

Hi there ​@Janetbrackenbury, to make a call to Australia, it would indeed cost to call. You’ll need to login to the iD Mobile app/website, and increase your bill cap to allow for calls to go through. Please find the costs via this webpage:

Apparently I have to have roaming on, do a little dance, disconnect from the network provider to get my bill back to normal, spin round three times, turn my phone off for half an hour, sing we will rock you, turn the phone back on. Did I manage to get through? No!!! yes the cost is 4p per minute if I ever get through. 😀

So I should have had 125 minutes at 4p a minute. Anyway I couldn't call Australia and am no nearer doing so. If anyone actually has useful information on how I can call Australia it would be appreciated but so far the questions have not helped.

Hello what was the resolution here because I’m having the same problem. Cap set to £10, international on, roaming on and it just won’t put me through. I need to get hold of an Australian number, it truly shouldn’t be this difficult.

Hey there ​@Loz569, to call an Australian number from the UK on an iD Mobile, dial 00 (the UK international access code), then 61 (the Australian country code), followed by the Australian number without its leading zero. Ensure international services and premium services are enabled on your iD Mobile account via the app or website.

Hello yes I have followed these steps multiple times. When I call it says “sorry your service does not allow access to this number”

Hello, yes my bill cap is high enough 

If you would be so kind as to review this thread. I have followed all the recommendations and steps. If you would then be so kind as to not patronise me any further and actually help me resolve this issue so I can contact Australia that would be greatly appreciated.
