data roaming option greyed out on samsung s23 fe


Been online chat twice and not much help. My phone option for data roaming is greyed out, I’ve been to Spain and corfu but couldn’t turn it on so I could use emails, WhatsApp etc without wifi. 
the people on the chat said they’d pass it to technical but they were no good either. Asking me to try it abroad even though I’ve told them the option is greyed out. I’ve put my sim in the old phone and that works with no option. Therefore how do I get round this

Sorry to hear this, have you tried a network settings reset?

 

For iPhone;

Settings > General > Transfer or Reset [Device] > Reset > Reset Network Settings.

 

For most Android;

Settings > System > Reset options > Reset Wi-Fi, mobile & Bluetooth

 

For Samsung; 

Settings > General management > Reset > Reset mobile network settings

 

Resetting network settings will NOT reset any personal data (Photos, Videos, Contacts etc) only network settings.

Hi Tom. 
yep I tried all these, the annoying thing is the sim works and data roaming too on my old phone. There’s obviously a problem with the phone as others have asked the same within the community without seeing a reply.

S23 FE is not on the list of phones compatible with iD network so they won’t be able to provide technical support for it.

My old phone was Samsung galaxy A32

my new phone is Samsung galaxy S23 FE

if it’s not compatible how or why have I been sold it from ID Mobile?

Just had a quick look on the Samsung forums and seems to be an issue after the latest software update. You might get better support posting on there. Suggestions include toggling aeroplane mode on/off and switching to 4G.

Also, are you currently in the UK at the moment and does roaming show as enabled in the iD Mobile app?

I've just got back from Spain and I've had the same problem. Ihave a Samsung Galaxy S23 fe. My son looked at it all and found that unless you are with Vodafone, ID mobile doesn't work!

Even when you toggle roaming button before you go out, it does go green, but when you land in Spain that's where it all stops!

I thought it was something I'd done.  I'll be changing companies i think!

I assume this is why they have cheaper prices for contracts.

They DO NOT tell you this information when you buy the contract, I suppose they might do if you asked the question beforehand. I hope this helps!
