I’m going to France & Spain 6th of August for 6 weeks to walk the Camino Le Puy. I have unlimited data and calls in the UK and want to know if I’ll get unlimited data in France & Spain?
I’ve tried contacting chat support, but their replies are so vague, copied & pasted from somewhere. Can I or can I not use my unlimited data allowance for those 6 weeks?
I’m thinking of buying an eSIM for the trip, but I don’t want to pay the extra money if I don’t need to.

What don’t you understand? Officially, there’s a 30GB roaming limit when using data abroad. However, from 1 October 2024 and until further notice, all customers can use their full UK data allowance in Roam Free destinations at no extra cost. Is it likely to change before the end of September? I don’t have a crystal ball, so I have no idea, and I doubt any of the frontline customer service agents do either. If it does, you will have a 30GB roaming limit when using data abroad.
OK. I’m getting different answers from various people. your online chat said there’s no limit and I can use as much as I like. The link you just posted says there’s a 30gb a month limit. That’s not enough for me. Which one is true? Your online chat, or the link you sent?
From 1 October 2024 and until further notice, all customers can use their full UK data allowance in Roam Free destinations, at no extra cost! We’ll notify you when the promotion ends and when the 30GB Roaming data limit is reinstated.
Is it likely to change before the end of September as I dont want to be away in France and can’t access data?
Also, the person on chat help said that a ‘fair usage policy’ still applies if I have data roaming on! I have to have data roaming on or I’ll get no service abroad, so I didn’t really understand this comment.

What I don’t understand @WelshPaul is that as I’ve had different answers from various people, between the online chat and the community forum. I’m on my 3rd sim as the reception was non-existent. I’m now using another company’s eSIM as ID gives me such poor reception. I could go on with the facts of why ID is the worst phone company that ever existed, but I can’t be 100% sure because somebody broke into my Magical Grotto and stole my crystal ball. I’m not too bothered though as it wasn’t the best of crystal balls. At least I know you didn’t steal it, so that narrows my search a little bit. I’ll find it eventually though. I’ll just ask my house elf to do me a tarot card reading, but I’m already guessing the crystal ball has gone to the same place as my phone reception; a dark mysterious part of the universe specially reserved for empty promises. Merry Xmas
We would recommend keeping an eye on the website, and as stated we’ll notify you when the promotion ends and when the 30GB Roaming data limit is reinstated.
