Hi - my daughter is coming to UK to study for the next three years. she is British but we live in Europe.

Can my mother, her grandmother, who is a UK resident, take a contract for her at her address? Can it then build up a credit record for my daughter who is likely to remain in the UK after her studies. My mother already has an ID contract - does this cause a problem?

the SIM deals are so much better value than the Pay As You Go deals.

thanks for any help you can give.

Hi @Pete Brooke,

Welcome to the Community!

In order to take out a contract she must be at least 18 years old and have 3 years UK address history.

If she doesn’t meet the criteria and somebody else takes out a contract, they would require to undergo a credit check and the contract would be in their name.

The contract would only affect the credit record of the account holder even if your daughter pays the bills.
